Alternativas de tratamiento para los molares permanentes con diagnóstico de Hipomineralización Incisivo-Molar. Revisión de la literatura

Resumen

La restauración de los molares con diagnóstico de Hipomineralización Incisivo-Molar (HIM) representan un reto para el profesional de la Odontología, ya que la mayoría de los pacientes presenta pérdida frecuente de las restauraciones a consecuencia de la deficiente calidad del sustrato dentario, dificultades en el bloqueo anestésico derivadas de la hipersensibilidad dental y la afectación pulpar que dificultan la higiene originando lesiones de caries. El propósito de esta revisión de la literatura es describir las alternativas de tratamiento que permitan obtener restauraciones más longevas de los molares hipomineralizados en niños. La consulta electrónica se realizó mediante la base de datos Pubmed, Google Académico y Cochrane Library, utilizando las palabras: “Molar Incisor Hypomineralization, treatment, MIH” entre los años 2010-2019. Se concluye que para la selección del material de restauración y el diseño de la preparación deberá tomarse en cuenta la edad dental y la conducta del paciente, la severidad del defecto y la expectativa de los padres.  Debe seguir difundiéndose información relacionada con el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la HIM mientras persistan las discrepancias entre los clínicos que tratan este defecto del desarrollo del esmalte.
